Recently, rapper Mac Miller has died due to a drug overdose. He was found dead in his home on Sept. 7 this year in San Fernando and pronounced dead at the scene. He’d just released an album earlier this year called Swimming, which made number 3 on the Billboard 200.

This isn’t the only dead rapper due to drugs: Lil Peep died Nov. 15, 2017 at the age of 21 due to an overdose of Xanax. Many rappers rap about their struggles with drugs through their songs and music. People just overlook the fact that the performer might have a problem because it has become popular to sing about it, so they can’t see that this is a growing problem in America.

Fans of Miller loved some of his upbeat songs. Throughout his career, Miller struggle with addiction and anxiety. In May of 2018, Miller went through a breakup with pop singer Ariana Grande. She posted on Twitter that his addiction and struggle to stay sober made them drift apart and she couldn’t support it.

She posted, “I’m no babysitter or mother and no woman should feel like they need to be.”

Miller even reportedly ran his G-Wagon into a pole a few days after the breakup while under the influence.

“You know what’s funny? I feel like the world perception of me changes depending on who you ask. But there’s a bit of freedom knowing people are going to think all types of s*it, no matter what,” said Miller in an interview.
